      Not sure how familiar you are with those kinds of engines but you most likely were sucking air and toasted the motor. SO be sure to replace all seals and check after rebuilt so that doesn't happen again.

        Im extremely unfamiliar with them, but I know a fella. I think this one either didnt have oil in it, or it wasnt getting to the engine. It's getting converted to premix either way.

          These motors are notorious for sucking air and running lean. Was there a bunch of oil in the bottom of the ski? The oil injection lines get brittle and break and will sometime dump all the oil in the bottom.

              Not really, a bit in there, but not much. I dont doubt that it was sucking air, several bolts and clamps werent tight when we started taking it apart.

                First time Ive ever seen a cylinder that had a piston in it not even make the compression gauge twitch. We pulled the head at the seller's house just to see if there was a piston in there.
                lol that is hilarious. I bored and stroked an old '94 waveblaster to 700cc, did a bunch of work on it several years ago. They can be pretty fun to work on.

                  YOu must have gotten the shaft to begin with considering they came with 701cc motors.

                    Im learning a lot really quick. This is the first two stroke I've ever messed with.

                    Luckily the bigger ski is ready to run, after I get the registration.

                      lol yes, it would appear so. My mistake, it's been many years. Started with a 700, stroked it to whatever the fuck the kit was for. It tore ass, 280lbs with all the ballast weights removed and other parts.

                          It had a protec ignition, anti cavitation plate, aftermarket jet system, some other shit, I don't really remember. It took some talent to ride, it would tip right over and sink if you didn't have good balance. Probably the best of the sit downs, absolutely minimalist.

                            Two strokes are fun, they always outrun the 4 strokes if they are running right. If you get into them for a good price you can have a lot of fun with it. It's always awesome until they strand your ass in the middle of a lake and you have to blow that stupid whistle like a tool.
