Boat question

Yeah I've never heard of or seen surfing behind the boat, screw a bunch of that. If I ever want to take up surfing, I'm less than an hour from Galveston and my nephew and ex Brother in law go all the time LOL. No way I would ride the close to the back of the boat, even with a straight inboard. If the boat hits something underwater or stalls out, you're going to be landing on the back of it and maybe breaking a leg.

It sure is. That's the Black Watch on Grapevine out of Silver Lake marina. It's a 1979 Choy Lee sloop rig that was built in Hong Kong, Japan. There were only 26 of them made that year and it's one of less than 10 sailboats still on the water in the US that has a solid wood mast. All of the wood throughout the boat is old forest teak. This is the boat I learned to sail on.

I read the crew are volunteers, or are you actual going out on cruises?

Dave's crew is typically volunteers and I went out with him for a couple summers several years back. He and I still get out and sail when we're both free though. He takes 1 crew member with him on each sail so that he can tend to guests while the crew member keeps the wind in the sails. Volunteering is how I learned to sail. I learned everything about the boat to learning how to read the wind.
