Do you guys walk slowly or something? I guess I walk pretty quickly and I answer them while walking, but I get the hello at the door and MAYBE one or two once I'm in the store at all of the stores I've seen mentioned.
lol, horrible correlation... I don't hate that... but I DO hate it when they ask me if I want to pay more for a bunch of shit that I clearly didn't want because I didn't order it! LOL
Some shrimp poppers, pizza shooters, or extreme fajitas?
I'm pretty sure the company forcing an employee to do a task in turn makes it their job.
If you believe that then you must believe when a company says "yes we can" and "you can never say no to a customer" can never be broken rules. Try to do a refund after 60 days with a receipt and the product still for sale at the same price. The sales people are often told no, while a manager can. nothing changed other than the color of somebodies badge.
As as a salesperson your job is to get a customer the product they _want_ to buy, not hassled into buying. You also want your customers to enjoy the experience so they return, or refer business to you and the company.
I'll use the entrance hello as an example of where forcing a task doesnt do good business. If a customers walks into a dead store then an employee should greet fairly quickly, even if there doing store duties. But when forcing employees to greet customers as soon as you walk in is why you get the robotic welcomes, or the cashier yelling across the store for the fear of a bad secret shop. To me this is more unprofessional than the late hello but the secret shops dont have the ability to state that, or dont care because thats not what the third party is paid to tell the shopped company.
I had to go to Office Depot. It was like I was at used car lot! Can I help you? Can I help you? Every damn employee they had there were following me around the store. Drove me nuts!
Would like to have a rewards card?
Do you need a warranty?
How about a printer cord for your new printer?
You’ll want some extra ink for new printer?
If I need help I’ll ask until then leave me alone.

A fucking men!
I had to write up two store managers last week- one for yelling his greeting across the store and another for failure to greet- fucking ridiculous.

Greeting customers isn't always about customer service. It also alerts potential shoplifters that you have looked directly at them and are aware they are in your store. It is a major deterrent. If you don't believe me, look it up. For the record, the store I manage had the lowest shrink percentage in a district of 12 stores last year.

Doesnt matter. When I worked at a mall retailer store some years ago the thieves were brazen and would just grab shit and run. They knew the security couldn't touch them and by the time the worthless cops showed up they would be long gone.
bitter has nothing to do with being a low maintenance type of guy! maybe celebs like that hand 'n foot type of treatment but not me because it creeps me out and I'm not a sucker with my money.
Conn's is that way. I walked around the garden display 5 times and he circled with me the whole time. Lost him in the furniture department with a quick shot over to the TV section.
Was in Fixture King today for 20 minutes looking at stuff while 4 guys were just bull shitting in the offices. Finally went and told one I needed a $2300 prep table.

Come into my store while I'm on the counter, grab something and run. See how that works out for you.
