Day one for me was a BIG 0...Weather is perfect at 35* and a light drizzle...but not a single deer in sight...It is like they have layed up for the day...Out again tomorrow to see what it brings....
Damn I wanna hunt Kansas....I have family up there that own a apple farm...need to get ahold of them...
my ol lady's family has well over 600 acres in Aubrey. I went out there early this year with her to check up on things. We pull in and I see what I thought were cows, but as we drove closer it was three deer. They were just standing there, didnt move. We drove on around one of the ponds and there were another set of deer that were around 20 feet from us. It was crazy. I dont know how big bucks get, but his hoof imprint was the size of my hand. I asked the guy who took care of the property about it, he said they're all over the place.
Anyone who lives around the area calls the land Carols Lake named after the man whos been taking care of the property since the 70's
Damn sleeper...you're tearing it up. I ended getting me a small buck(spike). I know not very many will take that shot, but I did. Was only deer that I saw. Got a decent amount of meat from it being that small. We cleaned it up and cut it up there at my friends shop on his land. Was my 1st hunting trip and it was awesome. Wasn't too bad waiting out in the trees in the cold as long as you're clothed up.
damn sleeper you're cleaning up out there... I was talking to dad tonight and we are going to go the weekend of the 17th we can't go next weekend because a surprise birthday party for him
good news is John and I made some headway on the GTO tonight
