Agree. Getting protein on the ground for 6 months helps the chances of those deer trails existing in the area you are allowed to hunt..

I actually went and walked my new property on sat.

I helped the land owner set up 2 blinds out there about 10 years ago and haven't seen either one since. (he's a family friend and I was just helping out). One of them came down about 5 years ago in a nasty storm and had been sitting in the barn as a rattle snake den. The other one is still standing and has grown a cedar tree around it. I will post up some pictures when i get them off my camera. Pretty crazy to see how much a cedar can grow in 10 years. I will just trim around the ladder and shooting lanes.

Im really excited to have my first property to myself next year. I've always done public land and invites to private land in the past.

If any one you plan on having any open spots on your lease, I'd like to hear about it. I'm laid back and play well with others.
Damn that sucks. Too much work involved to not stay awhile. I think everyone is gonna re up on our place in Cisco.

I thought I saw one on a friends property last year when walking in the woods. I bought a game camera, deer corn, and Hog Heaven attractant and poured some on the ground. The hog found it that night and returned every night. I eventually put out a small feeder and it would be there 15 minutes after dark almost every night.
It loved to rub on the creosote power poles on the property. I've heard you can staple some burlap or carpet to a tree and soak it with diesel and they will do the same.
The property owners son in law killed the hog in October and now nothing but cows and coons come to the feeder with an occasional coyote. Of course on my way home from checking the camera today I saw a buck about 2-3 miles away standing on the side of the road.

Nah, my brother told me it was the last weekend for youth so just get a basic license. That's all I knew.

Didn't realize you were referring to only your county. Most counties have a bonus season from January 2nd through the 15th for doe and spike bucks.
