    Congrats on the deer.

Copied from the game and fish site: Three-point rule: A legal buck must have both antlers shorter than two inches (button buck) or have three or more points on one side of his rack

    • Talk to a trapper for bait for the lion. I've seen guys make bait canisters and hang thenm from trees. We use geese for bobcats along with some gland or piss lure.

      • There are several out here where I hunt. Only a couple of guys have seen them, but they are caught on camera from time to time. Makes for a interesting walk back and forth to the truck in the dark. And I park .7 miles from my stand. I'm not afraid to walk through the woods at night. Been hunting hogs trolling through the woods for years. But last night on my return trip to the truck, I could have swore that something was following me. Eventually when I got about 75 yards from my truck I flashed my green light into the woods. I thought I caught a blimps of eyes down low. So I walked off the main path towards that direction. Walked about a 100 yards or so, but I never saw what it was. I ain't saying that it was a cat, but there was something following me. Scary thing about cats is that you can step right past one and never know it.

I missed out on a much bigger deer monday eveving. Arkansas rules are 3 on one side, or spikes smaller than two inches.
So does a broken brow tine really count as only 3 on that side?

You guys are serious about it. I've always parked my four wheeler right under my stands.

Yes, as it is less than one inch, I tagged it as a 7. A lot of people would call it a eight with the ring rule. There is a much larger buck I hope to see again that i'm sure has been fighting with him. I'm going to hunt around 15 more afternoons with a rifle, and if I have any tags left I'll bow hunt in Jan/Feb. Arkansas limit is 4 does and 2 bucks. I had this one euro mounted for $100.

As to the three on one side rule, It can have 3 on one side and the other horn can be broken off, it would still be legal. I like this rule, and I really like our spike rule. I won't shoot a spike. I saw a large spike monday that is going to make a nice buck if he survives. He wasn't much smaller than the deer I shot.

                      • my dad parks with in 10 yards of his stand but its woody enough for the 10 yards that you can't see the truck from the stand... and its behind it so there is no threat of shooting it.

BTW took a doe this morning .

God it was cold. 16 degrees and the ground was frosty. My beanie even started to frost. I was happy as hell when they jumpep over the fence and walked my way. 300 yard shot. Placed it perfectly.

I know personally two people that have seen mountain lions. Never met anyone in Texas that has seen a bear here.
