Official deer hunting thread

This is in the front yard at my place on the lake.




I've been bow hunting this year and haven't taken anything yet but one hog this sat morning.

Man, we had a great weekend. I didn't shoot anything cause I didn't see anything big enough to win the big buck pot we had going. I did see one that would have won, but he never gave me a shot. I'll try getting him next weekend. That is if he comes back. Its the 1st time I ever seen him. Not even on camera.

We ended the opening weekend with 7 does killed between 5 people. Sunday hunting was very slow with not much moving. I did get a pretty good video of a bobcat that walked up with on 20 feet of my ground blind. Another lease I am on was a complete fail with nothing but one hog killed and not a single deer seen..

I know thats right. I was sitting in the blind watching a spike. Every now and again he would look off into the brush. I knew what he was looking at by his actions. Then finally a small doe come walking in from the direction he'd been looking. I was disappointed at 1st until I saw the big ass buck behind her. He walked right out in the open and then his instincts kicked in. Once he realized how vulnerable he was, he made a quick 15 yard dash to the trees. I could still see him, but I couldn't make out what was what on the body.

He'll be back.

I hunted my place in grand saline opening weekend a saw lots of deer. They seemed to be moving much more satqurday than Sunday. Saw a little activity for the beginning of the rut as well. This upcoming weekend would be a good weekend to start rattling.

We did notice a little rut activity too this weekend. Hopefully this coming weekend will be proof of some dumb poor buck to be chasing some tail right out into plain sight
