My kids are respectful, kind, and VERY well behaved. Anyone that has been around them can verify. And it's because they have boundaries, structure, and discipline. They know where the lines are, and which ones not to cross. I don't see a problem with it at all. No different than how I was raised, and generations upon generations before me were raised.

Steve, in my opinion you're a pussy in this area. My my mother has broken wooden spoons on me, and I thank her for it. You're kids will too if you do it right.

Very little discipline and gets away with murder. Plus he has to stroke her hair to fall asleep, eats rubber tires off of toy cars, cries about everything, and is a mean little shit to everyone then goes running to mommy to tell on the kid he just hurt.
She might have that A.D.D thing. Isn't that the acceptable excuse nowadays?

I commend your parenting. You should get a presidential award and parade. Too many fucken pussy parents let their kids do wtf ever and they are out of control... My poor mom had to deal with 12 to 13 year olds raised improperly for 30 plus years as a teacher.. So glad she doesn't deal with the disrespectful ass hats anymore.

Keep up the fine work, you have the correct strategy!

I dont think it's so much being a pussy as it is bein a pushover. For one, almost every Dad I know is a pushover with their daughter. Which is what Steve has. And every kid is different, too. Some kids respond to a stern voice and learn their lesson. My brother was this way. Me, well... Belts, paddles, spoons, a switch from a tree... Nothing was going to stop me from doing what I wanted to do.

Spanking is a last resort in my house. They get one warning, if they don't listen, it goes to military style punishment. If they still don't get it, then they get spanked.

IMO, there are two types of parents. Those that make empty threats (don't think the kid doesn't know you're full of shit), and those that don't make threats, but rule quietly instead.

At what point did you guys start spanking? My son is at almost 18 months and I just don't think it is necessary yet.

Thank you sir! It's funny. I've noticed, anyone who has ever had a bad word to say about my parenting, is someone whose kids don't listen, are disrespectful, and don't know the proper way to behave. My ex in laws were like this. It got so bad, I wouldn't allow their kids at my house. Meanwhile, she wanted to criticize saying I'm too strict. Ok lady. When you get your kid to do ONE thing you ask him to, then you can criticize all you want.

I got whooped with a belt and a metal coat hanger several times as a kid (bare azz too) by my parents. I need to thank them for that...

I'll be passing it along to mine (maybe not the coat hanger) if they get out of line like I did, eff that time-out BS!

                            Fucking pussification of America.

These are the people that stopped scoring childrens games and tells them all that they are winners.
Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

This is a perfect example of what the hell is wrong with the kids today.
I don't agree with BEATING a child but I damn sure KNOW that a good ass spanking when needed fixes a whole lot of issues.

It is then the threat of it that works, until they start testing you again. Then it's time to remind them.

I'm of the opinion (mine are still in diapers) that when the diapers are gone, that seems like the logical time to start. However, I think you have the base it off your own kid.
