I live in one of the armpits of I-20 and SH-360.

I usually shoot at Alpine range, unless there is one closer to you that likes FMJ russian surplus ammunition?

Dont let your waist size scare you off. A good quality IWB holster will help big time.

Since getting my CHL a couple years ago, I buy clothes 1 size to big. I normally buy 34" waist jeans when I normally wear a 32" to allow for the holster. I can normally wear a medium shirt but buy large so it's loose.

Im 5'8" 170lbs and carry an XD45 in a Crossbreed supertuck. I carry at the 3'o'clock position without trouble. I have the gun angled forward and ALWAYS wear a belt. Pulls the gun nice and snug against you. Also having good proper posture is the key. Standing up straight will reduce printing just about any way you carry.

It's crazy how small this gun is, very comfy to carry in the small of my back. I'll bring my IWB holster if you want to try it on.
X2, thats what I carry and love everything about it except the sights. Im gonna change them out to a tree dot set up.

See, I read that the CW series doesn't really accommodate different sights, as there is no dovetail cutout.

Does anyone have a PX4? I'm looking at a PX4 compact 9mm, it's pretty cool and has changeable backstraps and has an ambi safety AND slidestop. Big plus for me being left-handed and all.

I like my Walther PPS for carry. Ambi mag release, and no safety for the lefties.

I shot one at Nick's shop last week, it's a smooth little gun.

I think I'm gonna check this one out. There's a gun show April 9th, can't recall which one, that a friend and I are goin to with a big wad of cash and I'm gonna hold a bunch and see which ones feel the best, and hopefully make a purchase.

I still think you can wing it. Im tellin ya, standing up straight is half the battle. People that slouch all day pull their shirt tight on the back and print. Standing up straight and keeping your shoulders back helps keep your shirt from printing when carring anywhere from 3 to 6 o clock. I also think people overweight have a hard time concealing because their side fat pushes the top part of the gun out against the shirt.

The Taurus PT709 slim is a decent single stack mag 9mm. I personally wouldnt carry smaller than 9mm. I believe its an 8+1. The hardest part to conceal is the grip. With the right holster, you can really conceal pretty well.

And if I recall right, you have to intentionally be showing off your gun to be considered noncompliant with the law. A bit of printing isnt going to get you into trouble.

I carry a XD40sc, P238, LCP, or P239 in .40. Not all at once but I have carried one of the smaller ones as a bug. The XD I've found is easier to conceal with the short magazine. A longer grip is where I have issues concealing.

As for which gun you should get, go to a range, rent, handle, and shoot as many as you can. Pick the one that is most comfortable and accurate for you.

For IWB carry, I prefer a Crossbreed Supertuck canted as far forward as possible. I actually want to add another hole to cant mine more. The little pistols are pocket carry altough I carry the P238 IWB also.

I don't like having extra shit in my pockets. Most of the time it's just my phone in the font pocket (iPhone 4 so it's thin enough not to bother me), wallet in back pocket, and keys on a carabeaner clipped to my belt, because I can't stand the bulkiness of my keys in my pocket. So a pocketgun is probably a no-go for me.

One question about holsters: are they pretty much universal, or do I need to have a specific one that's molded for the gun? I'm assuming a good leather iwb holster is better, as far as comfort goes, than a molded plastic one?

I have a CW40 and a Taurus TCP. Tcp is my standard carry, it fits in a pocket, and is very light. I carry my Kahr when Im not at work sitting at my desk, generally. Im very happy with both guns.

I have a HK P7. Great gun. It was actually made to carry for the German Police back in the 70's. A little out of your price budget, but hey, it's a great gun. Here is a pic of mine. Not to mention, it's probably the best out of the box shooting gun that I have ever shot. Do some reading on it, it's neat how they integrated the mag release and slide catch, and slide release into the gun. Really nothing protrudes. Here is a pic of mine. This gun is AKA "The squeeze cocker".

A good holster will be gun specific for the most part.

At you're size you're fine to carry just about anything. A good belt is the key. You'll notice that's been said ad nauseum.

Any pocket gun you may carry will be a single stack and thus very thin. You probably wouldn't notice it.

I have a few things you could try out if you want.

How often do you make it to DFW?

I guess I forgot to change my location. I live in Frisco now. What kinda belt are we talking? I don't really want to wear some nylon belt around all the time...
