  • Big tax refund, want concealed carry gun...

What do you have, do you like it, and why do you like it?

I have hands between average and small, and I've been doing some reading on the Kahr CW series pistol, mainly the CW9 because I'm a smaller guy, and I like most of what I've been reading. The bad mainly comes from people who don't have any hands-on experience with the gun, and it's all hear-say from the friend of a friend of a friend, etc.

I don't have a CCL yet, but I feel it would be more beneficial to me if I bought a gun and got used to it before the test instead of using a loaner.

I'd prefer to carry IWB, but I have a 29 inch waist, so is this really realistic for a guy my size? If not, what other options are available?

If I'm asking for too much information, let me know and I'll take my happy ass on a google reading frenzy. I just thought you guys might be willing to help, and thanks in advance for any info.

I don't have my CHL (yet), but I have a Taurus PT709 that I've been getting acquainted with. So far, I like it a lot. It's easily concealable and for small to medium hands, it's great. My hands are actually on the bigger end of medium and it's perfectly controllable even with hot loads. The accuracy is quite good for such a short barrel too. It has adjustable sights and it took some dialing in to get it right, but now it's just fine. Also, I have about 400 rounds through it so far with no malfunctions of any kind.

Also, I'm left-handed. Not that it matters much.

A local gun range may have a Ruger LCP for you to try.. Or get a lightweight revolver.

As long as you have a good belt, your waist size should not be that big of an issue.

I just meant comfort-wise. I don't really want a really tiny pocket pistol, but being as I'm not a large gentleman I can't go crazy with full-framed 1911 stuff.

Make a list of several prospects, and track down places you can rent them. I'm a sucker for the XDs, personally.

I'm a lefty and carry a glock 19 and HK P30. Both are ambi friendly and comfortable. The P30 is a little bigger than the 19 though.

I've got a Glock 26, but don't carry. It's pretty compact though and would probably make a good candidate.

I carry a Glock 27. I like it a lot. I like it because I'm pretty damn accurate with it. Granted I've only been carrying it for 3 months. I'm not a big guy and I conceal it everywhere I go. Only thing I can gripe about that isn't really the fault of the gun is when i wear my bigger jeans w/o a belt. It pulls it down a lot. Which is my fault for forgetting my belt and having it with me.

I've shot a Khar 45. And man that thing was horrible to shoot. It is really easy to conceal. Small and thin. Just horrible thing to control IMO.

I love my xd40SC I'm a small framed guy too 28" waist. I can conceal it IWB in a don hume (sp?) on my back alright. Takes a baggy shirt but I've done it just to see how concealable it is. If I bend over, its quite noticeable however.

If you are really interested in the Kahr CW series, I have CW40 that I am more than happy to let you test out. I'm thinking of hitting the range in the next 2 weeks to test my new Bulgy AK74.

It's crazy how small this gun is, very comfy to carry in the small of my back. I'll bring my IWB holster if you want to try it on.

I sell lots of kahr guns and I'm very impressed by the build quality and value you get.

You should also look at the PM9 for your size frame. Buy yourself a good Blackhawk belt and quality holster you'll be set for CC.

I guess my price range is $600 max, which I know opens it up alot. Are there some external hammer guns that one would reccommend?
