It's easily concealable and for small to medium hands, it's great. My hands are actually on the bigger end of medium and it's perfectly controllable even with hot loads. The accuracy is quite good for such a short barrel too. It has adjustable sights and it took some dialing in to get it right, but now it's just fine. Also, I have about 400 rounds through it so far with no malfunctions of any kind.
Had a bunch of FTF's and a few FTE's using WWB and Monarch.. but after doing some reading both of those are "known" problematic ammos with the 709.
I have the feeling there's some assembly grease or something in my firing pin assembly that's preventing it from firing properly, but haven't had a chance to pull it apart and clean it yet. Would also be interesting in seeing where your sights ended up, as i took mine all out of whack last time at the range and haven't dialed it back in yet.

I've mostly shot PMC (the big, yellow "range pack"), WWB, and PMC Bronze (all 115gr). I've also run a few magazines of Remington JHP, Winchester Ranger SXT and Speer Gold Dot (what I keep it loaded with). They all functioned just fine.
My sights ended up a little right of center and elevated up nearly all the way."It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

I didn't realize the night and day difference until I shot my buddies Kimber Ultra Carry II .45. My grouping improved a lot!! Where I aimed is where the bullet hit. I went home and did some research and found that the long travel is normal for the Sigma 9...that and the 10-12 lb tigger pull. The Kimber has a 4-5 lb trigger pull. That's when I decided it was time to upgrade to a better gun. I wanted to make sure in the event I had to use it, I knew I'd hit my target. It was out of my budget but it's something I'll only have to buy once. It's also more concealable.
My point is that if you're not comparing several different model guns, you don't really know if what you're buying is a good gun or not. I'm not a gun expert by any means but I did learn that you have to try different guns in order to make an educated decision when buying.

Originally posted by GeorgeG. View Post^^^^This. When I got my CHL, I bought a S&W Sigma 9. It was within my budget and I figured it was a good gun being a S&W. It retails for $320 before taxes. I took it to the range a few times and couldn't really get my grouping where it should be. I had to compensate where I was aiming (high and to the left) so that by the time the gun fired, it would shoot "close" to center.

Lately he's only been at the market hall show.

I may not be long in the handgun game, but I've been shooting a lot of rentals lately and this is the gun I compare all the rest of carry size 9s to. I wanted to shoot the Rugar LC9 cause I've heard good things, but Bullet Trap doesn't have one for rental yet. I got the Taurus PT111 Mill Pro 9mm because the price was right, I love the sights on it, it fits my hands like a glove and holds 5 more in the clip, but one day, the Walther will be mine!
The Baretta PX4 was a close 2nd behind the Taurus for me. Came down to sights and secondary hand position, but shoots real nice!
