I want to delve into semi-long range shooting. Nothing to the degree some of you guys on here are active in. I am looking for an entry level .308 that can yield decent MOA accuracy for me. I chose .308 because of the performance it gives right out of the box, and I will not have to deal with hybrid loaded ammo both in price and availability.
I am looking for the best bang for the buck. Not looking to do 1000 yard shots right away. So 500 yard shots should be somewhat more realistic goal for a novice right?
Having said that, what is a decent .308 that will give me these results?
Looking at Remington 700 AAC-SD in .308. That seems like a cheap, decent place to start? Any other sub $1,000 guns out there? Is used or new a better way to go? Used might yield a better weapon for the price right? I know I run the risk of the gun being worn out and I would have no idea what small nuances to look for.
Ideas would be helpful, will tackle glass after I found a decent rifle.
Thanks,
Randy
