    Savage 10 FCP with 24” 1:11.25 twist 5 R rifling chambered in .308

He wanted 1,000 for it and it looked brand new. Very low round count, maybe 20. No glass.
I have a 10FCP in .308 in the HS Precision stock. Its a 24" 1:10 twist. I bought it for $949.00 new from Bud's last year. It is a GREAT starter rifle for that stuff. I'm not sure where you are, but I am probably going to shoot Thursday or Friday at Alpine and you are more than welcome to come shoot it and see what you think.

If you go Friday, I might tag along. I have a bud that has a Ruger scout that I might shoot as well to compare. Alpine has 100 yard range right? I will PM you my number for you to drop me a text if you go.

Ive been shopping this idea too.
Just saying this is my vote so far after a couple months of reviewing various models that are <1000$ as well

If you are wanting to do any walking / hunting with it as well a rem 700 LTR with a fluted 20" barrel is a good compromise IMO

even a 20" would easily lend to <1000 yards. Seems like once you get to 1000yrd, you need everything you can with 308.

Probably like you though I have no where i could practice at that distance, so for now I've decided to just play with my ar10. 16" barrel on mine though just ain't gonna do it past 500 very well at all.

I got a Remington 700p that I've had good luck up to 450~ yards so far, I could improve on my end for sure too.

Here's my scout, mine has been very accurate out to 250 yards (have not had a chance to try 300+.) I am very happy with it.

I like my Remington 700 SPS Tactical, I removed the Hogue overmold stock and put on a Bell and Carlson.

Just picked this up. It's nothing fancy, but will be something to build on. Plus, it's my first centerfire bolt action. Oh, and it came with a free simmons range finder. $400 out the door...

I don't think the axis is as upgrade friendly as the other Savage platforms.
