To him, they might not seem like excuses, but from an outside perspective they do.

That's what makes it great. Fighters show their passion for the sport in many different ways. Personally I love the arrogance some fighters have. Hell, IMO they deserve it for the dedication it takes to be good enough to fight and make a living out of it.
It takes abit of arrogance and extra confidence to go out there to fight someone who wants to tear your head off in front of millions of people. You've never heard a fighter say "I don't know if I can beat him" or "I don't think I can beat him, but I'm gonna give it a shot". A fighter has to completely believe in his mind that he can go out to do the job to build himself up to the task at hand. Some, like the Diaz boys, need to take it to a level of hatred for the other guy to work themselves up to go into battle.

Of course i realize this. And for people like me, i watch just to see them get beat. Luckily, it works both ways for the UFC.
I fully understand why they act the way they do, but that doesn't mean i have to like it

Maybe i should've made it a bit more clear. I don't mind the people i like being cocky and talking shit before a fight. But if they were to start making excuses after the fight for getting beat i don't think i'd follow them anymore. And i damn sure wouldn't like them if they started taunting opponents and talking shit while IN THE OCTAGON. I don't think i've seen Rashaad Evans talk shit in the cage after Machida KO'd while he was doing it lol
You get it now, Steve? I'm still surprised you like the Diaz brothers btw.

I respect what the Diaz brothers are about in terms of martial arts and combat. Do I like them? Mehhh, I'm not sure. From the videos I have seen when they are out doing normal things away from the media and stuff they actually don't seem that bad. When Nick is talking about triathlon training, swimming, bike riding, training BJJ, there is a sparkle in his eye and no attitude going on, you can tell he's really passionate about it all, so I respect that. I'd LOVE to train with Nick but no, I don't like the thug, toughguy routine, I actually despise the thug types.

Sore losers thats it, nothing more, nothing less. If the mothufucker is running and doesn't want to fight find another technique, like BJJ.Originally posted by SilverbackLook all you want, she can't find anyone else who treats her as bad as I do, and I keep her self esteem so low, she wouldn't think twice about going anywhere else.

The difference with Tito was, after the fight, he put the pre-fight stuff aside and shook his opponent's hand, or tried to in some cases. He made it known he was a "heal" and he took that, but the people loved him for it, and he loved the sport and everything it did for him. He also didn't run around with a thug mentality like the Diaz boys.
I understand that some fighters need that mental aspect and the hype that some need to build themselves up before a fight. The trash talking is one thing, but in the end when someone beats you be it decision or not, no matter how the match went, you acknowledge their win, and you congratulate them on it.
Condit figured out how not to let Diaz beat him, and that the game plan he went in with. Do I think toe to toe, punch for punch he could have beat Diaz? No, but neither did he.
