what was high side showing? Also given todays temps if the clutch engaged and both sides showed around 100 that's not a good sign.

Noticed tonight my slow oil leak is now leaking worse. Half dollar size puddles every time I stop for any length of time...SMH

Not a good sign. Just out of curiosity did the charge on the high or low side and do you know if they used liquid or gas state at the time.

I put the dryer on last week and just had the system charged today. I put 2 oz oil in compressor and 7 oz in the dryer (system calls for 9 oz) I used pag 46. The guy at oreillys said his computer said 46 or 150.

The orifice came from rock auto. It is a four seasons auto adjusting for hot climates.

I am not sure how he charged it. We waited qhile he did something with the refrigerant tank before hooking the machine up

It is a long shot but if the low side port is in the wrong area and one charges through it with liquid it can screw the compressor up. This is mainly a problem when the system is running, either way it sounds like your compressor is bad.

Not what I wanted to hear! Is it possible an improperly installed orifice would cause this condition? I am fairly certain I installed the new one the same way the old one came out

Typically an orifice tube will only go in one way.

These compressor are made to turn on even without any pressure on the system. On my 2.2 I got the standard parts store compressor and it worked perfect. The AC in my old truck would freeze your balls off. I'd get a new compressor.

$280 for the compressor orifice and dryer fromoreillys through my dad. Have to purchase the dryer and orifice for the warranty. PAG46 or PAG150?

I guess it will be a little while longer before we can swap suspensions.

Ha, ya no problem. My FIL is fine with the truck like it sits, I may still pull everything off and sell it as a package.

I should be able to do it about this time next month, if that would be easier for you compared to tracking down and buying parts. If you get it pulled before then let me know and I will probably buy the kit from you

Oh, can anyone confirm which oil I should be using? Parts store says 46 or 150. Dealership was NO help at all.

Also, when adding the oil, 2 oz to the compressor and the rest in the dryer, does it matter which side the oil goes in? (inlet or outlet). I plan to get the kit from oreillys. Replace the compressor, then replace the dryer right before we pull vacuum. I am thinking I had the system open too long and the dryer is no good as well.

What was the high side pressure?
