Make sure 0AWG or bigger, and same size ground in the rear, and another on the engine block to frame.
It is 0AWG or bigger but not sure if it is grounded from the engine to the frame. Should the ground from the engine to the frame also be 0AWG too?

Gotchya, then like everyone else has said, chase a grounding issue. I would make the ground also 0AWG, though they make these flexible mesh grounding cables, which probably contain similar amount of metal; perhaps just as good to use those.

I made the mistake of doing a battery relo with 4AWG, and had the exact same problem. Swapped for 0AWG, and it was fixed. I did have 2 big grounds in the car (87GT) also, grounding the batt in the rear and engine in the front.

How can I determine if my battery is not holding a charge? I had the battery charger connected & it showed the battery at 100% charged. Drove the car about 5 miles then back home & hooked the charger back up & it showed it at 85%. The battery is between 3-4 years old with low miles on it. Just a regular ole autozone battery.

did you replace the battery charge wire from the alternator when you installed the 130amp alt?
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

SEB, Make sure you run your alternator wire to the switched side

if you just run the battery cables to the back and connect a cutoff switch, the alternator will still be in the circuit with the battery shut off. it can go over voltage if you shut off the switch with the motor running and burn up a lot of electronics.

locate the alternator wire to the battery so the shut off switch kills all power, not just the battery.
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
