  • Auto Body Classes

Just an FYI for anyone wanting to work on your car or learn how to do paint and body work.

Eastfield College has a Saturday class set up for project based learning. This means you bring in your own project and use the school shop and tools to work on your project. It can be anything you want to work on. Next class starts in April and is on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

FYI, I really don't think there is any instruction there on Saturdays. Back when I went through school there the Sat class was basically an open shop for people that wanted to work on their own stuff and had a pretty good idea of what they were doing. There never really was an instructor there to teach anything, just a staff member to answer very general questions and to make sure nobody hurt themselves with the tools and equipment.

People interested should find out for sure before enrolling since it has been a while since I went there.

When did you go ? Did you go to the Sat class?

I have been teaching it for the last 10 years and we have done just about everything you can think of. As a student you are expected to do the work, yes. But the instruction is there for what every you need.

I could list my expreince if needed, I am probably 1 of the two most qualified instructors in the program.

Back in '00 was the last time I was there. I know Carlos ojeda personally. We worked and managed a shop together a while back. Like I.said, the Sat class was not a class back then.

I know Carlos very well. How was it he was working and managing in a shop when he has been full time at Eastfield longer than that ?

If you where there then you should also know Hardee Wisdom and Jim Lathum. Mr. Wisdom started the Eastfield program and ran it until he retired.
I started teaching in 2001. Would be happy to compare qualifications with you any time.

If you went to the program then you know the teachers and who has done what. I don't need you trying to start trouble by running to Ojeda telling him things. He is more than welcome to come to me and ask in person any time.

LOL, I am in no way trying to start any trouble, but now I'm curious as to why you're so defensive. I was simply stating what the Sat. class was like when I was going through school there. And why are you so quick to state your qualifications? I don't really care about them, I have my own. If you teach there and you are good at it then I congratulate you, at least you have the willingness and time to pass your knowledge on to other that want it.

As far as Carlos managing and running the program, ask him. the shop was called Classic Restorations. My name is Carlos also.

Yes, I knew Wisdom and Lathum also. Wisdom retired a semester after I started and Lathum about a year after.

No not really, If I was I would have posted my qualifications. Just sounded like he was saying I was not. If it has been over 10 years since being at the school, then he cann't know to much about what is going on there.

To come on and say it was a bad deal is just wrong

If that is true then I jumped the gun a bit. But it did sound like you where attacking me and the program. You left before I took over, so you are a bit out of touch. By about 10 years. Things have changed in many ways.
