My 93 with a 302 got about 14-15 on the hwy and about 12mpg in town. With a Moates QH and a wideband you can def get better mileage. I would look for a 351 equipped model. Throw on a GT40 intake, some AFR 185's, some Fox Body 1 3/4" longtubes for an AOD, or some MAC 1 3/4" shorties. You would have quite the runner.

I can't believe my eyes when I read people bragging about their late 70's bronco with a 400m.

My 90 with 33's got about 10-12 mpg. I drove mostly city miles though not a whole lot of highway. Get one that has been really really taken care of because I worked out a shit load of bugs on that thing before I sold it. It had about 16k or more invested in it by me and the prior owner and I sold it for 5500 to a guy that I knew since he needed a car and I wanted a Jeep. Look for rust in the rear quarters, high idle issues, leaks, ignition problems etc. The AOD will cost you about 1600 to build really well if it craps out. The vacuum lines on the motor are crap. I ended up ripping out all my vacuum lines and replacing them with custom hosing and actually eliminated probably 10 foot of lines. Dont get me wrong it ran perfect when I sold it and I would not have hesitated to get in it and drive anywhere, but they do have their special quirks. LOL

I thought only 96 was mass air? Eh either way I have a 94 Eddie Bauer with the 351. I have no idea what tranny it has on it. I assumed only the aod and e4od were available as far as the autos go.

Maybe I'm thinking 96 is the first year for a roller block and obd2

The mass air/roller thing is a much debated subject. My 95 was a roller mass air 5.8 .

Of course I am biased, but I like the 87 - 91's but that is primarily based on the body style.

For good Bronco info go here: http://www.fullsizebronco.com/forum/index.php

Just use the search function in the noobie forum, there are a number of threads on the best years / combinations and why.

My 90 has a 302 and AOD, which isn't the best combo by any means, but with almost 200k miles it has held up well. The 302 is pretty worn at this point though, and I am looking at building a 351 and swapping it in after the new year. I get about 10-12 mpg city with a 4" lift and 33's but it is a gutless turd at highway speeds (65+ mph) especially when towing.

I seen one or two Brightnings (Bronco Lightning Conversions) similar to the pic here and there where very cool.

I remember reading at least one thread from a guy on that Bronco forum that swapped over 2wd stuff from an F150 and did the same basic thing. Was pretty cool.

I've got an 84 with a 2bbl 351w and a 4 speed. The thing is a dog, but I've never had any problems out of the transmission.

94, 95, 96 are the best of the later bodystyle. Some things mentioned above, 94' also was first year for upgraded AC with 134, 95 got the newer radius arm bushing congifuration and also some changes to the rear diff to eliminate slack issues felt in earlier models (was also first solid year for drivers side airbag...although some late production 94's had them too), and by 96' they also had the better trans....among a few other things.

                                Kingjason,

Where did you buy those bumpers? They look sweet! What size lift and tires are you running on the bronco you have now? Did you keep the ttb front end? Any problem with the alignment?
