Before I started cutting my own (clippers with no guard) I went to Sports Clips for several years and was always happy. The Fantastic Sams, Great Clips, etc are way too hit or miss. As previously mentioned, most of the girls at Sports Clips are pretty good because they do so damn many. My ex worked there for a year or two (about when I started doing my own) and would do between 10-15 haircuts a day.
I would leave at least $5 for a tip at a minimum (assuming the price is $10 - $20). If you always go to the same place and ask for the same person, $8 - $10 will make you memorable and they will treat you better. Especially if you are getting the shampoo and massage at Sports Clips.

Turns out he wasn't lying. He started fucking my hair up and I was very nice and very patient and he started getting super defensive. All I was doing was trying to get him to fix the stuff he messed up and he started getting upset, shake voice and everything like he was going to cry or throw a punch or something. I ended up walking out, throwing a $20 on the counter as I left and had Barbersville in HEB fix it. They always do a great job but are nowhere near my house or work.
It was really weird.

$20 + $5 tip with the same barber for about 10 years now. He's changed shops a few times over the years, but it's always by appointment only.

Ive gotten some seriously fucked up hair cuts, it really sucks to watch them screwing up and politely say something to them, and they blow the fuck up.
I had one at sport clips that started off bad, and kept getting worse. I used to cut my own hair when I was really broke, and know when I see that they are screwing up. This chick went off on me about how all she does is guys hair, and she knows what she is doing. I got scalped after letting her go ahead and screw up my hair by the manager of the place. I think they fired her or she quit, never saw her again.
It is really nice and well worth the money to have someone that I can sit down and bullshit with, and not have to tell them what and how I need my hair cut."If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." - Henry Ford

I pay $14 with no tip...but, I go every two weeks along with my son once a month. The frequency alone is tip. My haircut would equate to just under $60 bucks/hr!!! If I had a haircut that allowed me to go a month or two then I'd tip but I'm in/out in 15 minutes.

I do, however, tip 20% when dining out though...hopefully that makes up for it.Originally posted by PGreenCobraI can't get over the fact that you get to go live the rest of your life, knowing that someone made a Halloween costume out of you.
