I just sold my 06 Tacoma with 148k miles to family. That's how dependable it was.

I was surprised to find out the MPGs were the same as full size trucks

That's what I'm looking for thanks!

Awesome. What is the value of something like that down in texas? It seems like all vehicles are about 1-3k more here than down there as far as used goes.

Look for a deal on a Tacoma 4x4, you won't regret it. The reason the resale value is so high is that they are extremely dependable.
Thank you! I just don't know if I can afford it. I have never had a car payment and don't want to start at 30 and having a baby. Also I have never bought a vehicle with higher miles so that also makes me uneasy.

If anyone knows of some good deals... pass them along

I am going to clarify. A rear facing seat does take up almost too much room. Once we had my son facing forwards it was not an issue. I ended up installing a vinyl top for the bed so we could haul around the stroller.

So the rear facing you have to push the passenger seat way forward?

Yes, if you have a car seat with a handle that has to go down behind the passenger seat, it takes up ALOT of room. Heck even our Expedition gets tight when we do that. How old is your kid? It might be something you can live with for a few months.

Thanks. Its hard to find a double cab 4x4 with decent miles under $20k. I think the f150 97-03 supercrews are only 226inches, but they are almost all ragged out turds with high mileage.

Baby seat rear facing is a big factor... The baby is due in June.

Mine is an 01. It's pushing 200k. Only major issue it had was the timing belt. I went about 40k over the specs. Non interference motor though. Just ruined the wheels and the timing belt.

I wouldn't worry that much about the miles.

I get ya, its just hard to get over the idea of spending $15k and up for a vehicle with 100k miles.

There's always this Subaru Baja. What about the Explorer Sport Trac?

Had a lot of people shooting at your baby?

                        Another vote for the Toyota.

Tacoma, hands down. There is a reason the resale is still high. You might hate that now, but think about the alternative.

An mk are you talking about a crew cab?

Actually Sport Trac is on there... I just forgot to mention it. They are affordable and the explorers seem to run forever.

If the 97-03 F150s will fit in my garage... they will jump to the top of my list most likely.

I guess I will have to check it out. I think guys are confusing a car seat for the booster seat that older kids ride in.

I said the passenger seat has to be up pretty far if he is using a baby seat.

I had no issues with a front facing seat.

Like I said earlier, even our expedition el loses a lot of room because of the baby seat
