  • Colorado/Canyon, Frontier, Tacoma?

So I am looking for feedback on some trucks from you guys. I left out the Dakota's simply based on people not ever having good shit to say about them long term.

I am now in need of a truck due to painting homes in my time off from the fire dept. I finally got enough equipment that I am sick of putting it in the cherokee and strapping ladders to the roof.

Necessities will be a crew cab(baby seat) and 4x4.

The main reason I'm not looking at full-size trucks is due to the size of my garage. I tried to pull in a platinum Supercrew and it does not fit (shitty spec home garage). An extended cab just isn't big enough to stuff a baby seat in without pushing the passenger seat all the way forward.

I have never bought a vehicle with high miles either so that is another reason that I was ruling out the full size trucks since they will be well above my price range.

If I could swing a 2015 Canyon that would be my choice... they look so much better in person than on paper.

Sorry to put this in the back porch but this forum lacks an "Auto Lounge" forum for just discussing vehicles.

Get a full size truck. An extended cab will have more room than a mini truck.

I havent been in one of the crew cab smaller trucks. I assumed the full size rear doors equaled more rear seat space. I know extended cab ford's are tiny. Baby seat is a must and needs to be easily accessible for my wife to load/unload the little one. I have seen baby seats in extended cab fords and it renders the passenger seat useless for anyone over 5'5"

Out those three, I'm gonna say the Tacoma is the largest in a doublecab shortbed configuration. I was gonna offer my truck (Tacoma DCSB) for a test fit in your garage, but I noticed you're in Kansas.

There is plenty of back seat space for an child car seat and still give plenty of room for the front seat passenger.

Not sure how heavy your painting gear is, but the three leaf spring pack can't hold weight, and the four leaf TSB wasn't much better. Installing a set of Firestone Ride-Rite airbags will fix that.

Why is 4x4 a necessity? And out if those my fav is the frontier. You can even get them in quad cap with a long bed. Nice trucks but the platform and style are long over due for an update.

4x4 is a must because I live in Kansas. We get our faor share of snow. My job will not allow me to call in because I can't get to work. If they were mpre efficient and clearing roads or we didnt get 10"+ snows then 2wd would be great.

Soap I assume those arent 4wd and as mentioned the S-crew wont fit.

Painting equipment isnt very heavy. 5 gal bucleta of paint and my sprayer are the heaviest things. Ladders are light.

2wd trucks are like hot chicks that won't suck dick.

Tacoma is leaps and bounds better than the other options.

Not to mention the taco will have better resale value. By a LONG shot.

Toyota all the way, especially if you plan to put some miles on it or buy used. Tacoma also makes a longbed doublecab if you need a little more space than the regular one. Colorado looks nice but anything GM just feels cheap after a few years old.

Exactly. 4x4 is a necessity for me because I don't like to brodoze the parking lot, I prefer to actually see nature. Do I do it often enough to justify 4wd? Not really in Texas, but I used the shit out of it in Colorado. Plus the resale is just too damn good on a Tacoma 4x4 to overlook 4wd.

It looks like the titan can likely fit in my garage as well. Another option, as resale on the Tacoma's is stupid when considering the miles.

Tacos are still the best option currently (depending on the new Chevy additions) I love tacomas... The problem is the MPG is basically identical, with less space, capability, power, and features for the $$$ when compared to the fullsize options...

A 4x4 Tacoma is more capable than 99% of the other trucks ont he market, in any size category.

Look for a deal on a Tacoma 4x4, you won't regret it. The reason the resale value is so high is that they are extremely dependable.
