I only take "official" time off when I'm taking a family vacation. Love my job, but I do work my ass off.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Like you I don't plan on leaving any time soon, so I just consider it a good problem to have. I'll never have to worry about needing PTO for whatever reason, and not having it.

Cash out their bank when they retire.
Apparently the company used to have unlimited hours and some guys had 1500+ in there. So $80+ an hour x 1500 pay out was a good retirement check for them."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. It's just the nature of the beast... And yep, it's a good problem to have.

It's not necessarily that I love my job too much to take time off Eric, though I do enjoy what I do. In sales if you aren't working, you aren't generating revenue, and the things that come in while you're off have to get taken care of when you get back. It's not the kind of work that has a pause button, or something that I can offload to someone else, my relationship with my clients is my responsibility.
In most cases it's better all around to take care of the more important issues as they come up, so I almost always end up working at least a little bit during my vacations.

The flip-side of that coin is that I can also take time off while I am "working." For example, it's company policy that we can't take PTO the last 2 weeks of any quarter. This includes the week of Christmas, so I'll be "working" from my phone's wifi, while I spend time with family in DFW.

That's total bullshit. There are some other Manangers I know that pull that with their people and it isn't right. You earned it, you take it.
