It's a shame really that messages will lose their warm, personal touch...

MSGID/GENADMIN/COMUSFLTFORCOM NORFOLK VA// SUBJ/MEMORIAL DAY MESSAGE// GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. MEMORIAL DAY IS UPON US. IT NOT ONLY SERVES AS THE UNOFFICIAL START OF SUMMER, IT IS ALSO AN IMPORTANT FEDERAL HOLIDAY - A NATIONAL DAY OF REMEMBRANCE TO HONOR THE AMERICAN MEN AND WOMEN OF THE ARMED SERVICES WHO HAVE DIED WHILE SERVING OUR COUNTRY. IT IS A DAY FOR EVERYONE WHO WEARS THE CLOTH OF OUR NATION AND THE COMMUNITIES WHO SUPPORT US TO TAKE A BREAK FROM OUR BUSY LIVES IN ORDER TO PAY TRIBUTE TO THOSE WHO HAVE MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE, AND TO ALSO PAY OUR RESPECTS TO THE FAMILIES OF THE FALLEN.
2. MANY OF YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE TIME THIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND TO SPEND SOME WELL DESERVED LIBERTY WITH YOUR FAMILIES. RATHER THAN SIMPLY TAKING THE DAY OFF, I ENCOURAGE YOU TO ATTEND A MEMORIAL DAY COMMEMORATION EVENT AND WEAR YOUR UNIFORM WHEN YOU DO. YOUR PRESENCE AT THESE EVENTS WILL NOT ONLY DEMONSTRATE SUPPORT FOR OUR FALLEN SERVICE MEMBERS BUT ALLOW THE MEMBERS OF YOUR COMMUNITY TO PERSONALLY THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.
3. IN A TIME OF BUDGET CONSTRAINTS THAT LIMITS OUR OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMMUNITY OUTREACH, WE MUST LOOK FOR OTHER WAYS TO REACH OUT TO OUR COMMUNITIES. WE HAVE HAD AN AMAZING LEVEL OF SUPPORT FOR THE MILITARY OVER THE LAST TWELVE YEARS OF WAR, AND WE MUST NEVER TAKE THAT SUPPORT FOR GRANTED. YOU ARE A VITAL PART OF TELLING AND SHOWING THE AMERICAN PUBLIC THAT WE APPRECIATE THEIR SUPPORT IN RETURN. FOR THOSE OF YOU CURRENTLY DEPLOYED OR UNDERWAY, I HOPE THAT YOU CAN PAUSE FOR A MOMENT TO HONOR THOSE WHO HAVE PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE FOR OUR FREEDOM.
4. IT IS TRULY MY HONOR TO LEAD THE OUTSTANDING SAILORS AND CIVLIANS OF FLEET FORCES. MANY OF YOU RAISED YOUR HAND TO SERVE OUR NATION IN A TIME OF WAR. THANK YOU FOR ANSWERING THE CALL TO SUPPORT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES AND THE FREEDOMS IT PROTECTS. SHERRY JOINS ME IN EXPRESSING THANKS TO YOUR FAMILIES WHO HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO SERVE AS WELL. THEY ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT WITH SERVICE COMES SACRIFICE, AND THAT FREEDOM IS NOT FREE.

It's difficult to explain, but to me it's almost like you lose that time when you take a few seconds, stop and READ the order/message.
The above message is the full transmitted message. At least how I know them. As opposed to little text messages, sent separately in an effort to throw off enemy SIGINT units.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

I hate Naval Message Format. Yeah all those random letters have meaning and all but to the grunt on the ground or the poor schmuck in an airframes shop it means dick and you have to sift though it to get the pertinent information out of it.2004 Suzuki DL650
