I got some BS in the mail saying I owe $1858 to my work's learning institute. I think its just BS and my boss is looking into it from the corporate side. Anyways, I checked my credit this morning and it is not showing up. How fast are these things reported to your credit. I swear to god if they messed up and ding my credit I will go postal. Im planning on building a house mid next year and need my credit perfect.

The letter in the mail doesnt have an account or reference number. I tried calling to inquire about the debt the the automated asks for reference, account number or social. Aint no damn way Im giving them my social. I really think its BS but am worried.

Just dispute it with the credit reporting agency and they will have to take it off if it's bogus.

Sounds like a scam to me. It's strange that they targeted you and tied your name to your employer, though. Phucking scammers are becoming more and more sophisticated.

Yeah, sounds like bullshit phishing, or a scavenger debt collector, which often end up being the same thing. I wouldn't worry much about it.

if you guys even care...my work did send a debt to collections. The problem is the used my name not the person with the true debt. Morons... If it dings my credit, Im going to get administration and a lawyer involved.

NEVER do this if you plan to buy a house. All disputed accounts must be removed before you can obtain a mortgage now.

HCA is a bunch of retards. I've had many billing disputes with Women's Hospital of Houston after my kids were born.

Can your credit agency not remove them? Ours does it in about a week...still no fun (and expensive), but it's not 30 days.
