Best Place to Buy a Dishwasher?

My parents had a loud-ass dishwasher (plastic cased washer) and I covered the entire thing in dynamat xtreme and then dynaliner foam. Thing was quiet but it was probably $100 in materials. Maybe see if the factory has added sound deadener (not just the insulation wrap) to the case of the washer before you buy.

Also if you buy at Sears....KENMORE is only a label. Kenmore does not make the product. Frigidaire is the largest supplier of Kenmore label appliances. A few years ago, 95% of Kenmore label product was Whirlpool, but not anymore. Unless you know brand designs you would not know what supplier built each Kenmore model. So if you have a brand in mind, make sure you either buy that branding or do research to find out which Kenmore SKU is built by the supplier of your choice.
Last, if you are going with a fully integrated dishwasher, make sure you pay attention to the active vent location. If you have wood based countertops make sure that the dishwashers active vent is not on the top of the control panel. With the active vent on the top of the control panel, it releases steam vapor that will warp wood base countertops. If you have granite or any solid surface countertop, you should be fine. Check the bottom of your countertops where the dishwasher is being installed. If you see wood there do NOT buy a dishwasher that has the active vent on top of the fully integrated control panel (that faces up). If you do, you will be buying new countertops soon!Last edited by 1carcrazyguy; 05-12-2011, 03:49 PM.

Online appliance purchase....BAD IDEA. If you buy online and it gets damaged in shipping. The shipper says it was the seller. The seller says it happened during shipping. It is like ping-pong. Second is warranty or any service issues...with no local store to talk to, you are on your own! Being on your own with service issues is not a good thing.
