  • Pulled a weapon for the first time today..

I had the day off today and my wife was out shopping.. My son and i were sitting at the house watching tv and out of the corner of my eye i see some guy walking around my back yard (appeared to be blue jeans and a t-shirt) so i immediately thought i was getting robbed.. Back yard has 2 sections and the guy was walking around near my sliding glass door then quickly walked away.. Well, in my head i think im getting robbed in my shed or truck since i have a bit of assets in both.. tell my son to hide, grab a pistol and head out.. Gate was open so i loaded my gun and went to look at my truck 1st and it was fine but i hear a rumble in my bushes and aim.. then i hear a guy screaming( "sorry im the electric guy.. im just here to read your meter) I then told him he needed to knock on the door first before trespassing and i have aggressive dogs and if they were outside i couldn't have stopped them.. It was like slow fucking motion..

Guy had no vest or 10-15 ft ID to where i could see who he was.. I felt bad but also in the back of my mind I know he couldn't see me so i figured he was coming back to either take my truck, shed, or my house.. he was a good 40 ft from where i was sitting when i saw him too... what a fucking bad rush

i put a padlock on my gate for just that reason. people need to knock first and ask permission. and i probably would have responded in the exact same way, so i wouldn't think there would be anything to feel bad about in this case.

they are behind glass doors so I was assuming he didnt either a. notice them, or b. they dont bark much when they can't see someone.. they were sleeping where they wouldnt have seen the guy.. when i got up they started running around kinda growling but not barking a lot..

Your gun wasn't loaded? It will not be very useful in an emergency.

Several years ago i found out the hard way. To always have my shit loaded.

Just me and my mother at home. Around 3am two hood rat cars with several ninjas. In each car pull in my driveway. They all started fighting i had my mom call 911. Before i knew it one pulls a pistol shoots out the windows on the other car. Im in panic mode.
i had my kimber 1911 at the time. I didn't even had one mag loaded. Trying to load a magazine while ur hands are shaking is fucking hard and seems to take forever. Luckily i remembered my dad had his sks in his room ready to rock. I picked it up and told myself anything coming through the door i was going to dump the entire mag.

Luckily though the people in the car that got shot up ran. The other ninjas took off chasing them.

By the time the cops came it was all over. The whole thing only lasted no more then 45 seconds to a minute.

Now i keep the G23 on the night stand ready to go.

Without my gun hobby. I would cut off my own dick and let the rats eat it...

Had a guy try to force his way in to my apartment about 4 years ago. As soon as I pointed my gun at his face he decided it was not worth it and actually jumped off my 3rd story balcony landed in the bushes, got up and climbed into a waiting suburban. They sped off before he even shut the door. Two days later an apartment on the other side of the complex was robbed. I’m fairly sure it was the same guys.

They had been gone for quite some time before the cops showed up. Had this happened in Chicago or one of those other anti gun shit holes, who knows what would have happened.

Thats funny! My wife did the same thing to the TXU guy one night. She saw the flashlight in the back yard and then saw someone go by the door. She stepped out gun in hand and noticed his TXU shirt and him working on the meter. She yelled at him pretty good and told him he almost got blasted. If someone un known is knocking at our front gate she usually pops around the corner firearm in hand.

Even though I am very big on keeping loaded guns laying around I understand his choice. I worked a very very young accidental disharge death one time. Child was like four or younger, gun was on the top shelf of the closet, loaded. The child found something shiney dangling from the top shelf in the closet and pulled on it. The firearm fell off the shelf, child was playing with it and then it was over. Very tragic and you would have never thought in a million years that a child that young would have gotten a hold of that firearm.

There's also laws on the books about kids and firearms. If they get ahold of it and you didn't do your part to secure it you will be held liable.

When I moved in with my last roommate who had 3 kids and got them half the week I bought a metal gun cabinet (not a vault just cabinet) and put it in my closet and kept everything I wasn't carrying on my person locked in it.

It was just one of those cheapy Stack On cabinets I picked up from the Sportsman's Guide. I think it was less than 100 bucks.

Anytime my neices or nephew come over, my stuff goes in the stackon in the other room. Even the one in my night stand goes in there...kids get into EVERYTHING.

They don't need to ask permission to gain access to the meter. It's their equipment, and if they can't access it, they'll cut off your service.
