Hornady's red box LE 110gr .308 load is what I keep in the mag in the rifle. The other 3 back up mags have Hornady's red box LE 165gr barrier load in them. I figure that if it comes to using the back up mags that I am probable not going to make it anyway and I will not give a damn.

So which 10mm round for nightstand study? I live with just my wife so as long as the brick walls ultimately stop it we are good. Also, which 10mm for SHTF bug out vehicle carry etc etc?

My info is for people who hand load. I prefer a really damn fast 135gr projectile for destruction purposes. If I'm hunting hogs, I use a 185gr for maximum penetration.

I like .45 for carry because it doesn't over penetrate, and it's easy to control. but I do have a .357 for carry as well - a little bit smaller and easier to conceal.
You have misunderstood my intent. I want the .357 SIG for MORE penetration against soft armor vs the 10mm. I have some expired panels and want to test various loads against them.

How would the .357 have more penetration? Class IIa vests will stop just about all traditional pistol cartridges. And 10mm delivers more energy and velocity across the board when compared to .357 sig?

It's been too long since I've shot my 10mm. I don't reload and can't afford to shoot it!

Your 10mm wouldn't happen to be a Smith would it?

I don't know that it will; I just want to test it. I figured that it may behave like the 7.62x25 and if it works that is what I will use. I also plan to test the 10mm stuff at the same time.

Hornady also has a factory .357Sig load that looks very promising for hogs; their literature shows 20+ inches of penetration in gelatin.

7.62x25 is considerably higher velocity than even the 10mm. That round is insane. I've chrono'd surplus 7.62x25 at 2,000fps, .357sig doesn't even come close. Although .357 sig is a great round, the 10mm is faster and heavier in every table. Both are perfectly fine for hog hunting.
