Get the original Sony Blueray remote. It's by far the best thing I have purchased for my PS3.

You open up windows media player on your computer and there should be a tab towards the top left that says "stream." Click on it, then click on "more streaming options." Then change the network from "local network" to "all networks." It should show an "unknown device" which is the PS3. Just make sure it's allowed. It seems to work fine for me. Pretty easy. Much easier than the X-box.
EDIT: Also, you might need to go to your start menu and click on "Control Panel" then right below "Network and Internet options" it should say "choose homegroup and sharing options." Check the media types you want to share and check "stream to all devices on home network."
That should be it.
trust me man...the one Momo and I posted blows any other media server for ps3 out of the water.

Ps3MS is a dedicated media streaming program. You can't play anything on it or view anything on PC. It's strictly for streaming. Only file format that it can not stream that I know of is the VC-1(blu ray) format, which is a Microsoft type I think. Other than that, it will stream all other audio, video, and picture format. It's a cut and dry setup. There are advance settings you can change. As soon as you install it, it sees the playstation and you're ready to go. Of course firewall comes into play if you're having issues, which I think all you have to do is add program to the list.Last edited by Rafa; 12-17-2010, 11:38 AM.

Download "pms-setup-windows-1.10.51.exe " that's stable working one.
Install it and open it up...should look like this.
Then go to Navigation tab, which is where you tell it to look for your files.
If done right...on your ps3, you should see this under each section of the menu
give me a shout if you need help
I use this to stream my pics, music, and my blu ray collection

Mine is hardwired, so not sure if it's a wireless issue. Maybe a setting or something. Was reading and someone mentioned the output setting for the music in the ps3 settings...
change the output to 48khz on ps3. Mine is set there already. I would have to look at mine when I get home. Try that and see if it helps. I've never had any issue with streaming music when I installed this the 1st time. My issue was streaming different types of video at 1st.
System Settings > Music Settings > Output Audio Sampling >> 48khz <<

the main thing (for the HD torrenting folks) being .MKV files. those are muxed to the ps3 as .m2ts, a file it can understand.
other non-native formats are transcoded on the fly.www.hppmotorsports.com
