I would love the flush kit and could do it with a Sony or Kenwood or similar but I like Pioneer.

LOL at the size of the power wires. It is suppose to be 50x4 watts.

    • I don't think any of them do more than 12 per channel. LOL Its internal amp is switched off anyway.

I have a 500 GB 2.5" drive connected to mine. I can listen to music for weeks without hearing the same song. How does it compare to you last unit?
Way better than the 8400. Cleaner, better sound, bass hits better and the EQ makes all the difference.
I have to get an SD card though as I have always just run that little 16GB Verbatim USB drive.

        • I'm ditching the Type R 15 in the ported box, as it was just a little too tall and a little too wide for me to deal with long term.

Just ordered two 12w7s and will run them sealed with 750 watts each.

Looking for incredible SQ with this system and should still have the ability to get really loud on demand.

Designing my own box as we speak.

On that note, I've now got three Type R 15s for sale. I have this center console box for one that goes in an F250 (3 cubic feet at 30hz). It's made with 3/4“ MDF with a 1.5“ baffle, downward firing, no covering, just bare wood. I also have a huge rectangle box for two of the subs (7 cubes at 33 hz). That one is covered in black suede and made with 1“ MDF. Also have a JL XD600/6 that is barely used that I would part with.

Ya. I am used to big bass and it was the only way to get that in my F250 without getting rid of my back seat. I had a JL Stealthbox back there with a 13.5 shallow sub, and it just wasn't enough for me. So, I took the center console out and replaced it with this big ass ported box for one 15. It pounds, but the box is just too big. I could change it up, but it's the second time to build it already, so I figure if I'm gopnna have a third box built, I will just do something different. And while the SQ on this ported Type R isn't bad by any means, I really want to go all the way and get (arguably) the best SQ I can get and still move a lot of air when I want.

You're welcome to check it out. Not sure how the dimensions will work in any other vehicle, but I will sell you the Type R that I have literally only used for about 15 minutes of playing time for $175 and you can have the box for free. That way, if the box doesn't work out, you can toss it and you still have a great sub. I still have the box and packaging for that Type R. Hell, I just opened it last week.

The other two subs are broken in and used for a few years, but they still work perfectly. They've never missed a beat (pun intended). That other big box for those cost me as much to have made as the subs cost brand new. It's a monster! It fits in the back of my Explorer, but definitely wouldn't fit in anything smaller. I'd have to get $500 for those two subs and that box together, and that's a steal.

Anyone who has heard my Explorer first hand could tell you that it's a ridiculous amount of bass. It did 146.9 db back when I only had 500 watts to each sub. I never had it metered with 750 to each, but it was definitely louder. You can put even more power to those subs, but you better have a beefy electrical system if you start getting crazy.

If you come by in the next couple of weeks, before I get the new box made, you can hear this sub/box in action. You'll dig it.

                    • I am, quite simply, overjoyed with my stereo now. It now has the sound I have been chasing for so long. I am listening to songs I have heard hundreds of times and I can hear instruments and notes that I have never heard before. I thought something was wrong at first when I cued up a Fleetwood Mac song and I heard a rapid thumping in the right side and then realized its a lightly hit drum in the background. These Hertz blend perfectly with the Illusion tweeters.

It took some doing though. Had to make a custom 3/4" thick but thin walled spacer and drill it out with countersunk screws and mount the mid to that. That also required cutting out the plastic baffle on the door panel to allow the driver to clear. It managed to just squeeze behind the factory grill with no impact areas. The Illusion mids have nothing for these Milles. Drum tracks are unreal and I finally got my bass to sound like it is up front.

Time to shower and go kill a tank of gas to listen to more music. Figured they needed some cool down time as I was playing the hell out of them. LOL

                      • Good news. I experienced the same thing as you when I first hooked up my system. I would listen to songs that I have heard a thousand times and wonder if it was the same mix because of all the detail that I could hear. I credited my HAT speakers, but maybe it's the stereo.

                        • HAT are some spectacular speakers. I was within a knats ass of buying them but the retailer started to be so pushy and bad mouth the other companies that I just crossed them off the list.

But you are right about the stereo too. This 80PRS is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than the 8400 its ridiculous. I cant get over how clean this deck is but being I had no mids until the Hertz showed I don't know how much was the deck and how much was the drivers.

The dealer I got the Hertz from is one of the best dealers I have ever worked with and has them at a spectacular price. I highly recommend bigd_sounds on ebay. Great products at great prices and he really ships fast with great packing. Excellent communication and didn't drop the ball for a moment from the barrage of questions until they arrived on my door step. First class seller.

                          • I can not properly express just how good the sound is to me now. I have exhausted my Sheffield Labs and general SQ music and think the tune is spot on but now I want to blast some old schools stuffs. I am ripping through my digital library now to find some remasterd Pink Floyd and some Zepplin so can load up the decks drives some more. Gonna take me a bit to fill all 200GB. LOLZ Was playing "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins and had it up kinda high because I forgot about the part when they reverb his voice for "Well I remember...." and it almost made me jump in my seat. LOL And then at the 3:13 mark when the drums come in I was stunned, just blown away. The impact and clarity was like nothing I have ever owned before. Holy hell after so many changes year after year after year in all my cars I finally found that sound I have been chasing. On one hand they are very loud and clear and seem as if they can handle way more but on the other hand I am scared of breaking them even though others are throwing double my power at them. I may have bought them for pennies on the dollar but I am no baller and they are still expensive to me.
