gixxer, you are on the wrong board, dude. You need to go hang on sixspeed with all the Ferrari, Lambo, and other exotic guys. Most of us on this board couldn't give two shits about image and prestige. We care about fast and fun cars at reasonable prices, which is the whole point of the Mustang, Camaro, Vette, etc.
Really, man 90% of shit that goes on this board isnt even remotely car related. I know exactly what each of them are and its just a bland car to me. I see corvettes day in and out, I appreciate them for what they are and that's the gist of it.

The ZR1 and Z06 is about all around performance. Aluminum frame, carbon fiber panels, amazing balance and handling, awesome power to weight ratio to give performance to compete and beat some of the best supercars in the world for a fraction of the price. What is "blah" about that? Your argument doesn't make sense.
I don't care but its just a corvette, I don't get all the corvette nut hugging. 100k+ for a corvette is absolutely absurd, like the previous statement I appreciate them for what they are just not the car for me. Arguing its build or parts is neither here nor there, everyone has their own taste and opinion in cars and the corvette isn't very high on my list.

I understand the point you are trying to make, the Corvette is a mass produced car and the ZR1 is just an extension of that. You can buy a gently used ZR1 for less than the cost of a new Z06 with less than 1000 miles on it.

You're focused on an image, exclusive, limited cars without consideration of performance or cost. You can't afford any of those insanely priced exotics, so why down one you could possibly obtain?

My last question for you, have you ever driven a ZR1 or a Z06? If not, you should. It will seriously give you a new perspective on the car and that it's much more than it seems.

If I'm spending $400,000 on a car. It won't have a lexus badge on it.

Yes I've driven both zr1 and z06. My taste has nothing to do with the image. The majority of my favorite cars are actually from the 80's. If you saw my car line up you'd know that imagine isn't it. Different strokes for different folks

What was the oil temp? You are damn lucky you didn't spin a rod bearing at that temp. Our camaro runs at 230 on track and it's too hot. Boost on track is just a timebomb especially when it comes from a roots blower with crappy "intercooling".

            Be careful!

Oil temp peaked at 292F. I'm going to slow down sooner in the future when I'm running when it's hot out. Next event is TWS Oct 8-9 with Drivers Edge. Should be a bit cooler on a faster track (more airflow).

I have ALL of our Vette students regardless of which LS motor set their display to oil temp. Anything over 280-285 and we ask them to back it down. Have seen many failures in the rod bearings and a couple weird valvetrain failures.

problem with TWS is you are on the throttle for LONG periods of time. Fuel consumption at TWS is higher than any other track by about 20% if that tells you the difference in full throttle work.....and that is what kills roots blowers. Take it easy. Sadly, I will be in Midland that weekend for the airshow and won't be around.

                    Good god that's hot.

I also feel like a baby when my coolant temp reached 215 on hot days this summer.

I filled up at the Exxon in Cresson right before I went to the track. Ran two sessions and was down to under 1/3 of a tank. Filled up $50 worth of gas at $3.89/gallon premium I think. $50 of gas for two sessions at MSR 3.1. haha.

I guess I'll need to go get gas a couple of times next month at TWS. I like TWS as it's a faster track and isn't as hard on the brakes or tires. I'll keep an eye on oil temp and coolant and short shift as necessary. I also keep the display on oil temp and start backing down a bit when it gets much over 290F. The coolant warning this past Sunday was the first time I've had a coolant warning on any of my 3 Vettes. ('01 C5 bolt-ons, '08 C6 bolt-ons, and this stock '10 ZR1).

just read the SRT Team with a Dodge Viper ACR ran the ring in 7.12 and "some change" to beat the LFA and ZR1 times . Lolz!

                        Trolled by Dodge.

You're about a day behind. I'm waiting for the video. Hope some video editing guru can overlay all three videos so we can see where the LFA and ACR make up the time on the ZR1, etc. Outstanding time by the ACR. I read the ACR-X (race version) ran a 7:03. Nice.

It is crazy what technology will do for you. Personally I'm amazed by cars like the ZR1 and GT-R because of the level of performance for the $$.

My ZR1 is a fantastic, incredible ride. There is always something faster, more snobish, cooler, more european class, etc. but bang for the buck is difficult to beat.
