How do you maintenance something like that? Every 5 years cut the roots?

As far as I know, nothing. Until it breaks through the pipe... then you can either repair/replace or continually auger it out.

I hate insurance companies right now. Between Farmers taking fucking forever to get my a payoff on my totaled car and Allstate denying the claim for this... *sigh*

I'm not a ground dwelling rodent. How the fuck am I supposed to maintain anything underneath a big fucking chunk of concrete?

My only concern would be the structural integrity of the foundation now. They've cut the reinforcement, Im sure they ran dowls in prior to pouring the new concrete but it seems to me that each section of foundation would be subject to individual movement.?.?

Did they break through the footings (beams) aswell?

A friend of mine has a similar issue, but he hasn't had it fix yet. He is still getting quotes. His leak is in the kitchen and he was quoted a price that entailed cutting through the slab and replacing the whole pipe too. Do you mind sending me a pm of the company you used?

My parents had the same issue at their house. Instead of paying the $7k my dad was quoted, he called my bother and I over for help and we went to town on it ourselves. Talk about a mess. But its been problem free for about 2.5yrs now.

on a side note.... i've been known to run a pretty big root all up in some plumbing myself.

                              god bless.
