  • gt40p heads total timing

Has anyone tuned a motor with gt40p's? I hear they like around 28 degrees of total timing because of the efficient location of the plug.

The easiest way to tell if you have enough total timing is to have the car on the dyno with a warm engine/drive line and to put fresh plugs in right before the next pull. Start the engine and go right into the pull and shut the engine down right as you lift. Look for the heat discoloring on the spark plug ground strap. If it is right at the bend you are perfect on your total timing. Towards the tip means too much timing. Further down on the plug means too little timing. Timing has a greater effect on your power then the A/F ratio does.

Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.

      Maximum Break Torque

      gt40 around 34* @ 3k+
      gt40p around 28* @ 3k+

octane, plugs, and other factors may very your results.

Thanks, ugly weekend, 3rd gear died in test and tune, overheating on sat, Sunday worked out with the pole and win. Rad cap was bad, the radiator air deflector also broke on Sat, temp got up to 250, I figured the motor was done but with the help of some home depot pvc rain gutter it was rock solid on Sunday.
