  • 99 exploder ac flow problems

Wife's 99 explorer isn't blowing thru the dash vents very welll. U can hear that fan motor working like a champ. The ac air just oozes out the vents... Not like it use to. Need some guidance to get it back into tip top shape. I assume there is some flapper unit that switches the air flow direction when selected. Need some help with that. Thx.

First check to see if she has a bunch of crap in her glove box. My wife had all sorts of shit in hers and a baggie had fallen on top of the blower box blocking the air flow

Ok I'll check. I've also heard the blend door. How easy or hard is it to access?

Does it change modes(defrost/floor/vents) ok? Or is it stuck on defrost? If it doesn't its probably the mode door is broken. If it does, quick test of the recirulation door is switch from max ac to regular ac and listen to see if the blower motor sound changes if it doesnt pull the blower motor down and see if the recirulation door is broken.

Had same problem on 98 cobra. Blend door bellows had a hole in it.complete bitch to do cause whole dash must come out. I would first check vac lines from intake to dash. Lots of heat under hood could cause a line to leak.
