  • O2,O2 heater, Cat monitors not coming ready

I am having a problem with the O2, O2 heater and catalyst monitors not coming ready on a 2005 Mustang with 4.0 that I am working on. Let me start off by saying yes it has modified exhaust that looks cobbled together, aftermarket flowmasters, cats are there but look like they have been cut off and rewelded on. I had to replace the fuel pump for a fuel pressure issue causing a check engine light and the inspection is out at the end of the month so these monitors need to come ready. I suspect that this car had a tune in it but I updated the PCM so I am not sure which one was in it, if any. My question is: Maybe the tune bypassed these problems? The modified exhaust is causing it? It was bought at an auction so there is no way to find out what the previous owner has done. The car has been driven countless miles(300+ and several weeks) and I have tried to set them by watching the data for setting them using VCM scanner. Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys

If you have access to a decent data logging scanner you could atleast start by verifying that they are even functioning by checking the specifid PID

I finally got back to working on the car. I used the IDS and found there was no rear fuel trim activity or even pids for the rear O2s. I guess the reprogram didn't take or the tuner just overrode the rear O2s again so I used the module installation to see if that would bring them back online which it did. After a drive cycle it threw a p0420 which I suspected so I am going to replace both the aftermarket cats and go from there and see what else this basket case needs
