  • repairing fox a/c - what do I need?

Punctured the condenser in a crash years ago, never fixed it, putting the car back on the street as a driver so I have to have A/C now.

Already got the new condenser and an o-ring kit. What else do I need to replace? Want to convert it to 134 also.

Lulz, this car doesn't need a $750 air conditioner.

replace dryer if in budget. Look into a VOV

smart variable orfice valve, which should keep the temps down @ idle. (big problem on foxbodys)

5° - 12°F colder air (at hot idle)
Reduced compressor load and extended compressor life
Improved performance when converting from R-12 to R-134a
Improved city fuel economy & emissions
Improved performance in factory R134a systems

Flush lines, evap core, all new orings . suck it down and fill it up.
        One day at a time.

Should've replaced the condenser with a parallel flow condenser. Flush the metal lines with solvent, blow air through the rubber lines, cycle clean oil through the comp, replace the o-tube, replace all of the o-rings and seals while you have it apart. Once everything else is ready to install and you blocked the lines and vacuum checked them install the dryer and pull a vacuum. Buy steel r134a adapters. Not the cheap pos aluminium ones. I wouldnt bother with the latemodel resto kit. Too much money.

            Ordered evap core and VOV.

I don't know what I'm going to do with a running fox with working a/c, map light, arm rest, and ash tray door. I might have to actually start driving the damn thing. Like it's 1997 again, except this time I'll go to jail for banging HS cheerleaders.

            Hmmm, risky, but worth it.
