  • Which gear ratio to run?

I'm going to order my gears for my shoebox and not sure which gears to get. I am thinking 3.25 or 3.40. Mild 302 with a t5 and 26-3/4" tires. I want just a cruiser, so off the line is not critical. I figured I could find some kind of calculator online. What would you guys pick?

What rear end is this? With those tires, I would suggest 3.73s.

This is only going to be a cruiser. No track use. I want to drive it out of town for shows, so I think a taller gear would be better. Was also thinking 3.55.

            Good choice.

Give me a good deal and I will let you. I also need a posi for it. It has a peg leg in it now.

Anything from a 3.23 to a 3.55 would be appropriate. Any more would be for drag racing and wouldn't be a lot of fun on the road, and might keep the secondaries tipped open at speed. Anything less would feel lazy, and if you have a mild cam, might keep it chugging along in overdrive.

Are 373 gears a general all around gear or would 355's be a better choice
