  • Micropolishing rear end gears

    Is it worth it?! Anyone heard or had this done?! Ive read its worth a few ponies at the wheels... 7-12 hp from what i have read.

            You talking about Mikronite? I believe that's how it's spelled. I agree, waste of time unless you are already competing at the highest levels in class racing.

                Wouldn't gears installed do this naturally over time?!

                  Yes and no. Yes the gears will wear to each other, but not to the degree you're thinking of.

                      ]We polish all the rearend gears on the Legand cars. Ring and pinion. We are looking for every ounce of ponies we can get as they are low hoursepower racing.

                      That said its RACING only. Left turns only. We get a high speed,big buffing wheel, rouge and plan to get, ah, messy. Wear goggles. Lots of hours. When I say polish they look like chrome, mirror finish. I think it helps keep the temps down and the rear end feels smoother.

                      For the street I don't think the polish would last long enough.

                      We have to repolish pretty often as the gears wear.

                      Just my 2 cents.
