  • Any chevy dealership guys?

my aunt has 06 z71 with a 5.3l and 126k and the oil pump failed and motor went out. Who ever she spoke with at the dealership has her at $6k or more for a new motor with labor. Does this sound about right? Tia

Get a good used engine and swap it in, waaaaay less than $6k.
Sounds way high, but then again it is a dealership, about right for a full engine replacement.

PM it will not cost that much if you go with with a used engine. I work at a Chevy dealer.

16.3 hr book rate, for a complete engine swap. Done several and its pretty easy.

Have her pull it from the dealership and take it to this guy - http://billshalfpriceautorepair.com/

I've sent a lot of people to Bill, he'll save you a ton and you won't be sorry.

Never seen a oil pump go out even at 410k miles oil pressure is good.
Now I have seen the o ring leak and starve the pump and everything else of oil.
But that is not a pump failure.
Your not going to get a dealership hook up,the price sound normal.
I would find a junkyard motor and do the swap myself.
I can do the whole deal for $2500 with low mileage motor.
