Starting problems on coupe.

So my 91 has been giving me some problems, it starts some times then it won't. When it won't start it doesn't even turn over and it won't even jump off. Then other times, i'll drive it somewhere then when I try to start it to leave it will turn over slow and one of the battery cables will smoke. I'm not sure if I have a short somewhere or if something is going out. Any help would great, thanks.

Sounds like a bad starter.

Excessive resistance causing the cable to get hot and smoke.

So would that make it not even crack over or be able to be jumped off?
