New rear end noise/problems. 2012 with 29k miles

Car is a 2012 5.0 auto with 3.73's installed at heads. Anyways, it developed a new extrmely annoying sound a couple weeks ago. At pretty much any speed, there is a very loud metal to metal sound. As speed increases, so does the volume of the noise. However, when I turn the wheel to the right or to the left, the noise gets incredibly loud. I brought her into the Ford dealer because Travis at Gearheads said it may have to do with the brakes.... Ford installed a brake kit per recall on these cars (12-01-01) and I was on my way, nothing else wrong with the brakes, but the noise is still prevelant. What could this be and how do I fix it? I called GH this morning, no answer. Called back about 15 mins ago; Travis answered, put me on hold for Matt, then hung up. Called back minutes ago again, no answer after 4 mins. This is seriously turning into a nightmare. What would yall do, besides drive this bitch off a cliff. The search buttonis being exhausted.

I'd appreciate any decent advice. (oh and Ford did confirm that the car is rusty, not dusty) lol

Hm, I will look into whether it is the wheel bearings or not, thanks. I was thinking maybe the clutches are worn out already in the rear and maybe the spider gears are messed up.. Would a fluid flush with friction modifier be a route I should go before taking things apart? I've personally never worked on 8.8's other the replacing axles, springs and brakes.

I was thiking this could be a possiblity, though I can't understand why it would go out with 29k on it. Hell, it's only been to the track twice and is not totally abused. It does have quite a few miles for only being 13 months old I guess.

this is the problem with aftermarket parts, installs, and shops. Auto manufacturers do a pretty good job, (amazing actually) at producing a product, makin it haul ass, and giving it to retards with a zillion mile warranty. Then said retards want to make product faster and prove that it's faster by abusing the living shit out of it. So in comes the small shops, the ones without billions in capitol to re-engineer drive lines, and you get this scenario. I hate this for all shop owners, some are good folks, others are not, but you can bet your ass, when it goes out of an aftermarket shop it's going to get the living shit beat out of it.

Well I haven't done much to make it faster, and have no idea why you're hating on people who mod their cars. Car manufactures have for decades promoted modifying cars. For instance, Ford offers a 600+hp supercharger for this car. The Shelby my pops is about to pick up, has a 750hp S/C upgrade from Ford.

I have what, exhaust intake and tune as far as power goes. I have a ton of other parts that actually strengthen the car making it handle the power better. IE control arms, sub frame connectors, Brembos, s/t braces etc. I'm putting in Moser forged axles soon too, to help with the stregth of the rear end.

I haven't looked at an '11-'12 rear end, but it shouldn't be far off from the rest of them.

On your differential housing there will be two plugs with a 3/8" square hole in them. One is the fill, the other is the drain. You should be able to open the fill hole and place your pinky in to see if the level is close to the hole.

Get back to us with your findings.
