  • Help, about to 86 this 86!

Plz, offer some advice. I'm getting my ass kicked by this and I don't know what else to do. Picked up an 86 5.0, got it running and it's been idling high and then low. I've checked the compression, changed the ing. coil, plugs/wires, hoses, checked the timing, and haven't found a vacuum leak. Sometimes it smells rich also. WTF, else am I missing here?

Barometric pressure sensor, iac, eec, kinked wiring..

Sd cars don't take much to keep going and vaccum leaks that are big enough to throw the bps for a loop will cause a rich erratic idle issue.

Thanks for the help. I haven't pulled any codes off it yet but that's my next step when I get to it. I'll go clean the IAC and check it all out. If y'all can think of anything else feel free!

Could be the Intake Air Temp sensor or the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor. Had an F150 that was running pig rich and wouldn't idle right. Tried everything and it turned out to be a bad ECT.
