Fuel filter question

I am searching for a 10an size fuel filter for my carb set up. They list replacement type paper filters and stainless screen type filters. What is better or is there no real difference. Oh, and does size really matter when it comes to filters

The stainless screen filter is a prefilter used before an electric fuel pump. It's purpose is to capture larger particles that could damage the pump. The paper element, usually 100 micron, is the one that captures all the small particles.
