  • What's is my rearend ratio

I can't search from my phone here, so I am asking its a 2000 GT pretty sure its stock tranny, with 17s, at 70 MPH in 5th gear I'm at 2000 basically, and I am wondering what the rear gear is on the car. Any help would be awesome. Thanks Daniel

Crawl under the car, read the tag on the rear end

3L27 is 3.27 with limited slip

Best way to do this is:

Lift the rear of the car, support it with stands.

Have the e brake off and in neutral.

Mark the tire, and line the mark with a referance point.

Rotate the drive shaft and count the number of turns it takes to rotate the tire 1 full turn.

        2 and 3/4 turns is 2.73
        3 turns is 3.08
        3 and 1/4 turns is 3.27
        3 and 1/2 turns is 3.55
        3 and 3/4 turns is 3.73
4 turns and some change is 4.10
        4 and 1/4~ turns is 4.30
        4 and 1/2 turns 4.56

If it turns more then that you're doing it wrong.

Very easy, very effective way to check rear ends with no tags.

Pinion rotation to tire rotation = gear ratio.

There isn't a tag I can find on it, it's not my first time to do this, I just don't have a Jack at the moment and was hoping and wondering if that could tell some one what it is.

I'm not sure what year they started doing the PDF so this may not work
