Do ET Streets (bias-ply) cause vibration at higher speeds?

So after driving the hell out of the ls-coupe this weekend (200+ miles), I noticed that the car has a strange vibration at higher speeds (70+ mph).

I was thinking it might be the drive shaft being out of balance (it was given to me by another board member for free!), but the more I think about it the less I think that could be it.

The vibration comes and goes about once a second or two and only at higher speeds. Granted I am running around with a 3 speed and 3.73's so my RPM's are always 3k+, but the engine seems smooth as butter and the trans is brand new.

The only think I can think of is that the ET Street bias ply's are making the vibration or possibly the spool in the rear end or maybe bearings or something.

Any thoughts?

I am also running radials up front (165's), I know that is not the best setup and already have a set of ET Street radials to replace these bias ply's with when they wear out.

I doublt that could cause any vibration though.

U-Joints?

You said the driveshaft was given to you, was it new? Possibly the bearings in the u-joints are on the way out but haven't fully given up yet?

Very possible. Might just throw a new set in and see if they help.

Are PRECISION u-joints any good? I am running 1310's front and rear (originally a a/t drive shaft and using a spicer 1310 th350 yoke).

swap the wheels from your cobra see if that make any difference.

ya, it was weird cause as i rolled out there were what looked like a hundred or more folks lining the street with cameras rolling waiting to see some action, yet there were signs everywhere saying don't do a burnout and cops at both ends of the road.

i was thinking, umm, what do you people expect me to do, if i do anything i will 100% get a ticket!

at this point they just want more pics. I think after that Miata or whatever it was that spun out and crashed, they have really brought the hammer down.

Yeah, I usually let the turbo spool up a little bit then let off to dump the BOV to raise an eyebrow or two... but nothing crazy.
