In the past, I would let them know as you're about to walk through the scanners. This year I plan to just let them wand and if it goes off, then tell them. I see no need to announce it and make a display by going to the officer's booth, etc.Comment

Unrelated but when I was still in law enforcement I went to a Mav's game and they wanded me and it went off so I showed my badge. The bastard that wanded me starts yelling out "Hey (insert name) this guy is carryin, he's sitting in section x, he's police, make sure you put him on the list!"
