An extended warranty would never cover that. Finance managers say it is covered all the freakin time.
Now if you had full coverage insurance, it would be covered. Had it covered tons of times when I was at Honda.

If he bought it new, possibly? Used 90s Hondas are a crapshoot.

Evaporator or condenser? Condensers usually fail due to corrosion or impact, most warranty companies will ask. Evaporators leak all the time though.

I think you're missing his original point. It wasn't about the part going bad, it was about the price of the part to replace it. He's suggesting it should not have been a $300 part. Or, more technically, that too many pieces are either interdependent, or only sold as assemblies with shit you don't need.

nah, it could have been fucked with at some point over the last 20 years.

It really has gotten beyond ridiculous. So many dealerships calling us for aftermarket parts because they can't afford their own fucking parts for their own fucking brand of cars. But hey, thanks for the added sales.

Either way, you came out in good shape on that deal.

I'm almost positive it was the evap, but don't have the paperwork on me. I'll check tonight.

I don't know what to tell you then. It was covered by the extended warranty I purchased. My insurance was never involved.

Well my ford warranty covered my 2nd ac compressor for the mustang 3rd for the car , its at 55k. If I didn't have it its 1900 worth of repairs each time.

Good deal, I've never been able to get a warranty company to cover "Road Hazard" damage. Guess I only dealt with subpar warranties. I always want to buy a warranty on a car for the AC system alone. My cheap ass would go a long time before I fixed it.

It's entirely possible that what was told to me and what was told to the warranty company were two different stories, so they could get their mechanics some hours. Hell if I know.

I know it was the warranty that covered it because I had to track down the policy number through the dealer I purchased from, as the dealer that serviced it was not the same dealer. I'll dig through my service records tonight and post up who the company was and confirm whether it was the evap or condensing unit.

Glad I had it. I damn sure wouldn't have paid the $1800 they billed the warranty company, that's for sure.

Nah, I got it out of the disabled lane from auction. The "best honda mechanic in texas" couldn't even find the problem. Took me all of 3 hours to find the issue. Been about a year and a half and the guy I bought it from is still pissed about it.

At V Honda, non-Honda warranties paid the same hours for the techs as customer pay. Not saying I ever did this, but it is entirely possible they stretched the truth to get it covered.

Seems like car parts have their price cycles. Charcoal canisters use to be pretty pricey

I still don't get how the fuck the air filter for any 97-07? F150 still costs $19.99. They track our air with oil sales and the air filter costs more than the oil change

I had a lady stranded for a heater hose on an 04 aviator. Has a small plastic fitting coming out of one of the hoses that always breaks, dealer only. Radiator hose and heater hose selections always suck.

Oil filter cartridges for new Toyota cars and trucks are $7 and take 7 quarts synthetic

I sold a d3s? Bulb yesterday for a 2011 rendevous, $174.99. Granted my price was inflated here for that part in stock

When i spend over 2k on a car for repairs I trade.

But aren't you then stuck with Chinese aftermarket? Except for some engine internals that's the way it is on my bitchin camero. anyway.
