  • How do you find property ownership?

I am trying to figure out who owns a piece of property that I have known to be vacant for 20+ years. Every search I try on DCAD (since its in Dallas) shows no record found. How is that possible? I even tried the house next door which is occupied and it doesn't come up either.

Just a small residential lot with a house on it. Dallas County, City of Dallas hence my searches on (DCAD) Dallas Central Appraisal District.

Certain people can have their information removed from those sites (public officials, judges, cops, etc) Maybe John Wiley Price owns it...

                        This..

Had to do it a couple years ago, the clerk showed me the records room and she left me there to start digging...looked through some micro-film, then to the books and found what I was looking for...only took about 30min

I don't know what the county clerk will tell you that CAD would not. I sent you a PM, I can try and track it down for you.

I haven't looked on Dallas CAD website, but some counties have limited info avail online vs. their actual central clerk office

For free at the courthouse as already mentioned. For a fee a title company could find out also. If you have a friend who is a real estate agent / broker they may have access to the tax rolls through their network which would be another free way to find the property owner.
