"A man suffered life-threatening injuries in a fire Tuesday afternoon, Amarillo Fire Department officials said.
At 3:38 p.m., firefighters responded to 4515 S. Virginia St., an AFD news release said.
Five firefighters arrived at 3:44 p.m. and found several wooden fence pickets on fire.
Firefighters found a man suffering from burns. He was treated at the scene of the fire before he was transported by ambulance to Northwest Texas Hospital.
The fire was brought under control by 3:46 p.m. Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
Fire officials did not identify the victim by phone Wednesday, but said the fire caused about $50 in damage.
One command vehicle and one fire engine responded to the call.
