I'm more concerned that three officers fired (and you know not just one round each) and only one round hit him. That's a lot of missing when there are clear "victims" / innocents in the same space.

Stacked up on a door, meaning within tazer/pepper spray/flash bang range.

What I want to know is, why is the guy with the knife being charged for murder? He didn't kill the producer, the cops did. Why aren't the cops being charged with killing an innocent man?

His crime led to the other's death.. That is the philosophy anyways.

If you and your buddy go rob a gas station, the clerk pulls a gun and kills your buddy, you can be charged with the death, even if you didn't have a gun on you..

Because deaths caused by any party trying to stop you when you are committing a felony is your fault.

While I understand it's a "Cause And Effect" situation, I still think it's bogus. By that reasoning, if Skip sold a guy a new car, and that guy has a wreck leaving the dealership and kills someone, Skip could be charged with murder. Reaching? Sure. But if he hadn't sold that guy a new car, then the 3rd party would still be alive. Same with the assailant in this case. Sure, he brought a knife to the party, and was threatening/harming folks. But he didn't have a gun. He didn't pull the trigger. But because an innocent man ran from him into the seemingly safe arms of the police, and got shot by the police....I would wager that the murder charge won't stick, depending on the quality of his lawyer. But I'm probably wrong. I still believe the cops should be held just as accountable for the death of that man as the assailant.

Skip wasn't committing a crime when selling you the car. It has to be directly tied to the commission of a crime for that to work.

In some cases I absolutely agree with it, but not in all cases. This is a very grey one for me, and I would be surprised if they even follow through on that charge. They already have him for attempted murder. And it's not like anyone actually gets executed in CA.

What generally happens in cases like this, is the highest charge will be the one they prosecute. The lower charge will likely fall by the wayside in a plea deal anyways.

Unless the lesser charge is easier to prove, and the higher is a bit shaky. But yeah, agree.
