  • Buyers remorse

I just bought an expedition. I haven't had to buy a car in 8 years, so I forgot how it feels. Everytime I have a big purchase I get physically and mentally drained. Maybe it's because it's financed and I hate committing to any kind of monitory deals.

Is this pretty much the norm? My wife is excited and I'm driving home thinking I have to make that payment every month. Is there a different feeling when you pay cash?

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

It usually takes me about a year on cars. So I go buy another one.

It's good you feel that way, to a certain extent. You realize what a commitment it is. It's one reason my wife always drives new stuff, and I do not. One car payment is not a problem, but two can be a drag. I buy something with cash when I need it, and it's not near the stress or worry.

You get the same feeling paying with cash. I keep thinking there could have been a better deal out there. I bought the last 3 new vehicles with cash. For me I calculate how much I had to work to buy the car. I'm glad it only happens every 5-7 years

I would feel the same way if I agreed to let someone monitor me.

Just bought a car a couple of weeks ago.....no remorse here! But we bought it for a purpose.....mpgs! We looked at hybrids, roller skates and everything in between. We put a deposit on a Honda Accord Sport. Then before the car came in we decided to back out and go with a VW Passat TDI. On the first tank we got 42.4 mpg on our normal routine which is mainly back and fourth to work and around town. We went to a car show in Amarillo over the weekend and got 44 mpg with a strong crosswind.

Spending money is a serious subject for me. That sterio I bought from you may have been my biggest non necessary purchase in a couple of years. I normally only buy big stuff if I see it will really add value to my life. The stereo was out of the norm for me.

And yes, I still driving that red Tacoma I had that day. Been driving that for 8 years.

You are right about that. It does make her happy so there is a silver lining.

I paid for my dodge in cash, and I held the check for almost a month before I sent it off. I made my wife write the check for the down payment on our house.

I can blow tons of cash in small increments, but I have a hard time with big sums.
